Just What the Doctor Ordered
November 10th, 2009 | by jruss |Wow, I didn’t think anything could take the sting away from back-to-back blowouts by the Clippers and Kings. But this 40+ point win helped for sure. Despite the fact that I just learned Andris Biedrins is going to be out for at least two weeks (brutal), the Warriors actually looked like the kind of team they can be if they want to win; scrappy, three pointers, lots of steals, fast breaks, energy!
Here are the five things I learned by watching this game:
1. I really like Acie Law. I know it was garbage time and all but I was very impressed with the way he played defense, his leading of fast breaks, his energy, and general court awareness.
2. We are going to need Randolph to step up BIG TIME with Biedrins gone. He is going to have to play under control and hold his own against big men on the other team. Not sure if he can but he is going to need to.
3. I hate to say it but I am going to miss Jackson whenever he is traded. When he wants to be, he is the catalyst of this team. I mean 15 assists – insane! I hope the Warriors get something of value for him.
4. Monta Ellis is the best player on this team. Probably not a shock but 10 rebounds to go along with 18 points and 3 assists. SOLID!!
5. The Warriors have to find a way to keep Morrow on the floor. No question. He opens up so many opportunities by spreading the floor. And, he’s taking it to the hoop with some regularity. Finally, just a side note – Morrow is shooting 53% from three point land. Pretty impressive.
I still have a very bitter taste from the last two losses but this helps. I only wish we could play Minnesota and Memphis all year. Alas we cannot. Get well soon, Andris!
