What Untouchables?
December 16th, 2009 | by jruss |There was a time not long ago (like two weeks), when the Warriors had a nucleus of young future franchise players that were considered “untouchable”. Guys like Anthony Randolph, Stephen Curry and others. Apparently, the Warriors have gone from “untouchable” to “please touch them all and let me know if you like what you see.” I read multiple reports today that there is now no player on the team that is considered untouchable and even more specifically, the Warriors are actively shopping Anthony Randolph to see if there are any takers.
The more I thought about this and the state of the Warriors, the more frustrated I got. Then I had an epiphany. I realized that this is what the franchise is and to pretend otherwise is just plain nuts. So, with my new clear thinking I decided to re-name the team. Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to introduce the Golden State Sea Monkeys.
Let me clarify. You know when you get a package of sea monkeys, the first thing you do is pour them into the plastic container and you add water. The sea monkeys start swimming around and you get so excited and caught up in how cool it looks and you think to yourself, “wow, this is really neat. I can’t wait to watch these all the time.” Then you wake up the next morning and they are all dead. This is a bit of an extreme example to show the parallels of not getting too emotionally caught up with the Warriors and any of the players on the team because you don’t know which ones will be here tomorrow. I would also recommend that you refrain from buying any jerseys. Just a little helpful hint from me to you.
This now makes me wonder if nobody is untouchable anymore then did we really blow our chance at getting Amar’e Stoudamire because we weren’t willing to part with Stephen Curry. Yikes, that’s kind of a tough pill to swallow.
Well, like our friends the sea monkeys, we’ll have to just enjoy each player while he lasts without getting too attached.
