Slap in the Face

February 8th, 2010 | by jruss |

The NBA’s ugliest man, Chris Kaman (replacing Sam Cassel in that category) has been named an All-star replacement for Brandon Roy instead of Monta Ellis. To be fair, the Clippers are 21-29, which is definitely better than the Warriors record of 13-36. Kaman is also averaging 20 points and 9 rebounds a game, which is very good. But come on! Is Kaman’s addition to the all-star game really based on his merits this year? He’s got a much better supporting cast than Monta does. He’s got Baron, Camby and Eric Gordon.

Monta is averaging 26 points a game to go along with 4 rebounds and 5 assists, while playing almost every minute of every game and playing alongside the D-League all-stars and Stephen Curry. Plus, Monta is arguably one of the most electrifying players in the league.

Kaman is a good center on a bad team. Monta is a very good player on a really bad team. Kaman over Monta is a total slap in the face. If Kobe and Carmelo get hurt and Monta sneaks in that way, I would love to see Monta decline (he probably wouldn’t but rather go out and prove that he belongs there). But how many times is he going to be disrespected by the Commissioner, by the league and by refs every game.

Chris Kaman is a scrub who is putting up good numbers. Plain and simple, Monta was robbed!
